Culture Club at the Races?? We mean Newmarket Races within Newmarket, England.

Culture Club Poster for the Band appearing at Newmarket Races on the 21st July 2017

For the most loyal and devoted  Culture Club fan/s this will be seen as old news. So forgive us mere mortals for mentioning this. However its exclusive news for the rest of us around the world.

Here it is - Culture Club will be performing at three racecourses here in the Uk this July,2017

(21st July, 2017 to be precise)  for a summer trio of outdoor shows. The Jockey Club Live presents chart-topping 80s band Culture Club at Newmarket Racecourse on July 21.

In a UK exclusive, Boy George, Roy Hay, Mikey Craig and Jon Moss will be performing at three racecourses this July for a summer trio of outdoor shows.

Boy George & the original Culture Club line up will be gracing the Newmarket Nights stage on 21 July 2017Newmarket is often considered as the Home of Racing.

But since 2014, the Jockey club in which the Newmarket venue is apart of they have been promoting as well as a Music venue.

The Jockey Club Live is an innovative and exciting event entertainment promoter specialising in combining live music and racing.

Since The Jockey Club Live launched in 2014 it has promoted over 80 concerts with a combined attendance of over 400,000, and was revealed by Music Week as the UK’s 6th largest music promoter.

The Jockey Club is the UK’s leading collection of majotr racecourses including Aintree, Cheltenham and the famous Newmarket venue,

The Jockey Club is dedicated to delivering memorable experiences which is not just geared towards Horseracing.

Even though it does play host to some of the best events in the world for Horse racing at events like The Crabbie’s Grand National and The Investec Derby Festival.

The Jockey Club is well rehearsed in delivering world class entertainment.

Each racecourse has a unique and special setting, providing a truly unique experience of racing and music.

The Jockey Club Live's vision is to bring the biggest names in pop music to racing events across the country; giving consumers an exceptional experience of live music and racing.

Current and past headline performances include Kylie, Jess Glynne, Little Mix, Bryan Adams, Sir Tom Jones, Kaiser Chiefs, The Corrs and Busted.

My biggest wish would be if they could get to appear with them - Helen Terry. She for my opinion was just as important to the "Culture Club" Sound as the rest of the band.

    What a vocalist she is/was.

As for any new material from the band. We were supposed to hear of the new album called "Tribes" - which would feature new tracks as weel as unreleased tracks.

The band has been working on the album for three years but still remains unreleased without an expected release date. Mikey, Roy and Jon claim that Boy George is in control and the album will be released "when he is ready".

In April 2017, a petition called "The Release of Tribes" was set up for fans to sign in order for a quicker album release (if it is released at all) 50,000 fans are encouraged to sign.

Here is just one coment from a fan of the band - pleading for them to release the album in 2017 via leaving comments on this website.

Here is the note that was left on this website . Please read the notes below.

"Please release TRIBES in 2017... I've been waiting for new material since the fantastic DONT MIND IF I DO.

We are lucky to have George, Roy, Mikey, and Jon alive and well (and kicking) so why not share your new album with your fans? seems logical to me." - Brian M, Birmingham  (USA)

  • Its a Miracle - Culture Club are back

Culture Club -  "Its a Miracle" - The 1st tour in 15 years!

Culture Club in 2014 THEY ARE BACK!
There is not a country in the world that doesn't know the names of Boy George and Culture Club.   During the year of 23rd September 1982when Culture Club burst onto the world music scene with the single that is - "Do you really want to hurt me?". No one will ever forget them.
Everybody who remembers that period of time and when seeing the Lead singer of Culture Club perform on the BBC'S - TOP OF THE POPS music program/show (ENGLAND) - 23rd September 1982. All were asking themselves this one question.
Is this person a Man or a Women? - which lead to the Boy George becoming the most talked about person in Britain - if not the World at the time.
Since that music single was released they went onto bigger and better things.
The Johnny Carson Interview  with Boy George in 1984 is below - Please watch!
However, personally one of the singles that impressed me from them at the height of their fame was this single - "Its a Miracle"- 1983  from the album called Colours by Numbers.
Culture Club's music could be best described as a fusion between British new wave, American soul, Jamaican reggae and also other styles such as calypso, salsa or country music.
Over time, many, including myself have stated that this was their favourite Culture Club track of all time. It was the 5th single release from the group as a whole. The song was complied by the group as a whole, but the lyrics were done by the man himself Boy George.
The vocals were provided by Boy George; and Helen Terry who acted as a back up singer on the song (Who I have to say is a great singer in her own right)
"Its a Miracle" is a Pop/Soul/Funk drenched single that has lasted the test of time to be honest.
And right within the middle of the song is a great vocal solo done by session musician/vocalist that is - Helen Terry. In fact her vocals are even better then Boy George's.
The Song is bright and happy; and yet so soulful at the same time. Blue eyed soul at its best with a touch of pop added to the mix. Have a listen to it below.
Culture Club - Its a Miracle
It was within this period - 1981 to 1984  many within the music business have classed this period of music as the 2nd British music invasion of the Usa. And were Culture Club were right in the middle of it.
The band's debut album,Kissing to Be Clever (reached Number. 5 within the Uk, and number No. 14 within the Usa) was released in October 1982, and the follow-up single, "Time (Clock of the Heart)", became another Top 10 hit in the US (Number 2) and UK (Number 3). "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" also became a Top Ten hit within the US (Number 9) and within Canada.
This gave Culture Club the distinction of being the first group since The Beatles to have three Top Ten hits in America from a debut album.
Kissing to Be Clever sold over 1 million copies in the US, being certified platinum, and sold another two million worldwide at the time of its release.
Culture Club during their time have sold in excess of 100 million singles and over 50 million albums, and were one of the biggest pop bands of the 1980s.
They achieved seven straight Top 10 hits in the UK, nine Top 10 singles in the USA and nine Top 20 singles in Australia. They are also Grammy award Winners.
Now fresh out of the bag we are now being told that the original line-up have confirmed they are to play live dates across the UK in 2014 for the first time in over 15 years.
Prior to these live dates Culture Club will be going into the studio to record new material, with producer Youth (Paul McCartney, The Verve, Embrace)for a album to be released early as early as 2015.
Joining Culture Club on this tour will be very special guest Alison Moyet, who was one half of the English group called Yazoo, and an established solo artist as well.
