Danny Webster guitarist and vocalist of the Funk band Slave dies
Floyd Miller (Left), Danny Webster ( Middle - RIP), and Mark Adams ( Right - RIP) are members of the band called Slave ( from the picture shown above).
I learned about this news late in the day on 12 September 2020. The news that reached me was the death of Danny Webster. Danny was a member of the 1970s and 1980s Funk/Soul band known as Slave.
I was a big fan of Slave myself from 1979 onwards.
I will be honest. I didn’t discover them until I heard a brilliant track from the group called Just a Touch of Love via a local radio show here in Ipswich Town (ENGLAND; devoted to the music of Soul, Funk, and Jazz Funk music at the time hosted by DJ Dave Brown.
Just a Touch of Love by SLAVE was the track, and it was a monster of a hit during the summer of 1979. And from that period on I was hooked.
SLAVE - Just a Touch of Love - 1979
The band Slave was formed in 1975 and was arguably the hottest band from the area of the USA known as Ohio, in regards to the many funk bands that came from that area at that period.
Bands that come to mind as I am writing this are - Ohio Players, Zapp, Lakeside, Dayton, Funkadelic, and Bootsy Rubber Band, I am sure there are more….
However, Sad news reached me when I saw this post on Twitter from the Artist/Musician known as DAM FUNK.
Yes, the guitarist and sometimes lead singer of the band called Slave – saw Danny Webster dying on the 11th of September 2020. The cause of death hasn’t come to light at the moment or been reported to us yet.
Dam-Funk led to a small tribute to Danny Webster and his contribution to this fabulous band.

Slave, during the 1980s, had really good underground support within The USA, the UK, and Europe at the time for followers of the music that was Funk tinged with Soul.
As pointed out above by Dam-Funk; Danny was not only just a really good guitarist. He was also a fine vocalist as well.
Please check out the tunes on the album in which he was the lead singer, especially from this album that was released by SLAVE called "Visions of the Lite" album released in 1982.
Slave - I'll Be Gone (Danny Webster on lead vocals for Slave) - 1982
He can also be heard singing lead vocals on this as well.
Slave - stay in my life - 1982
The band that was/is Slave has over the years lost other important musicians that were HUGELY IMPORTANT TO THE BAND.
Bass Player – Mark Adams - DIED - on March 5, 2011, at age 51 in Columbus, Ohio
Guitar Player - Mark ("Drac") Hicks - DIED - on June 14, 2011, at the age of 52 in Dayton, Ohio
Even all three have PASSED and are no longer with us. The music of Slave will always be with us and will always feature within Soul and Funk DJs or radio show hosts playlists across the world. Have no fear of that.
I HAVE WRITTEN A PREVIOUS ARTICLE ABOUT SLAVE - SOME YEARS BACK IN FACT. SOMETHING THAT YOU MAY FIND INTERESTING - PLEASE HAVE A READ - JUST CLICK THIS LINK:

There are no reports at this moment suggesting that Danny Webster passed away due to coronavirus.
